Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser Review

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog. It is time for another skincare review, on this face wash I have been trying the past couple of months:

Overview:

  • Price: $20
  • For all skin types
  • Not cruelty free! (Unfortunately)

Promise: A foaming cleanser formulated to help remove excess oil, dirt, and debris. Ph balanced and cleanses skin without overstripping. (From the Kiehls website)

This cleanser is a thin gel like consistency and it does lather up when it touches your skin. Personally I prefer cream cleansers since my skin is pretty dry, and this definitely does leave my skin feeling a little bit dry when I use it.

However, it does not irritate my eyes, which is a big bonus because I can get all my eye makeup off, as well as all my face makeup. This cleanser leaves my skin feeling incredibly clean, I definitely think that it works. If you have really dry skin, then it might not be your favorite because it might dry your skin out more than a cream cleanser.

It definitely lives up to its promises for me and I would recommend it if you have sensitive skin, if you have oily to normal skin and only slightly dry skin. If you have very dry skin then I would steer clear of this in favor of a cream cleanser because that will leave your skin more hydrated.

This is what the texture looks like!

Pros:

  • leaves your skin clean
  • won’t irritate your skin or eyes
  • removes makeup well
  • nice gel texture
  • isn’t super expensive for a cleanser
  • leaves your skin clean but not dry

Cons:

  • not cruelty free

That is it for this review! I hope you guys liked it, face wash is kind of hard to review since it is personal but I wanted to share my thoughts on this product. Let me know what face cleanser you use in your routine in the comments down below!

May Beauty Favorites!

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog. Today I want to share my makeup favorites as well as some other beauty favorites so lets jump into it:

Makeup

NYX Worth The Hype waterproof mascara

As you guys know I love  the regular version of this mascara, but I accidentally bought the waterproof version this time when I repurchased it, and I love it. It keeps my lashes curled all day, it is super black, it definitely is officially waterproof (It lasted through a good cry), and it never leaves smudge rings under my eyes!

Smashbox Hydrating Undereye Primer

This is a product that I just shopped my stash for this past month. It is really nice at hydrating my undereye area and my concealer goes on so much smoother when I use it! I also find that this makes a nice primer for my face underneath foundation as well, so I absolutely love it. Continue reading “May Beauty Favorites!”

Itcosmetics Hello Light Creme Illuminator Review

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog. Today I want to review a lovely product that I have been using for years and have not heard that many people talk about! For me this is one of my holy grails and I always repurchase it, so let’s get into the review:

Overview:

  • Price: $24
  • Cream highlighter
  • One shade
  • Cruelty free!

Promise: An anti-aging powerhouse for naturally pretty, lit from within skin! The IT Cosmetics Hello Light Anti-Aging Creme Illuminizer is all about the look of light, natural radiance and illumination. The formula is infused with skin-loving anti-aging and hydrating ingredients including peptides, hyaluronic acid, hydrolyzed collagen, silk and vitamins A, C, & E (From the Ulta website)

So that is a lot of promises! But this product really lives up to its claims and I really enjoy it. It does make your skin look lit from within, it is a highlight that will give you a natural wet look rather than being super sparkly or glittery. For me this is the highlighter I wear every day, it looks gorgeous, natural and it is everything I need in a highlighter. It doesn’t emphasize texture on my skin as much as powder highlighters do.

I also love the texture of this product because it is very soft and creamy and it blends in well with just your fingers. It’s just a quick and easy to apply highlighter that looks great in any lighting. I think that this highlight wakes my skin up and makes me look much healthier and like my skin is really lit from within. I don’t think that this product lives up to its anti-aging claims because I would have no idea how to measure that, but it definitely does look great!

Swatch:

Pros:

  • not glittery, very natural and pretty
  • cruelty free!
  • applies easily with fingers or a brush
  • gives you a wet look
  • decent price

Cons:

  • only comes in one shade
  • some gimmicky claims

That is my review on this highlighter! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know if you guys have ever tried this product in the comments, or let me know what your favorite highlighter is!

Essie nail polish

Hello my lovlies! I do enjoy making my horizons wider with this beauty blog. If it isnt obvious by the picture in today’s blog, i will be reviewing the nail side of the beauty world.

Now i always loved painting my nails, as a child i loved how i could express my colorful self through nail polish. It also meant bonding time with my mother which i always loved .

As i began my musical carrier i sort of shifted away from nail polish, it seemed every time i painted my nails, the second i brought out my violin they would chip. And then as i got into middle school and high school i realized i have zero patinces to sit and wait for nail polish to dry!

On the special moments that i do paint my nails Essie is always my favorite brand of nail polish. I love the wide variety of colors that they have. Not to mention the layer dry relatively fast.

And as many of you have probably realized over the years, i really really love the color pink. Out of all the pink Essie shades this one is my favorite. I love how it isnt like a hot hot pink, its a pink that can go with a lot of my outfits, its very natural looking, not a bold color that draws attention to me. Also blush pink is one of my favorite shades of pink in the world. At first i didnt like how the consistancy was so thin, one of the things that makes painting my nails such a bother is when i have to sit and do layers. I dont know if its just me, but when i paint my nails i want to be done as soon as humanly possible. In my opinion thicker consistancies of nail polish tend to take less time. Sure it takes a bit longer to dry, but at least i dont have to sit for hours on end waiting for each layer to dry. After using Essie for a few years now i’ve grown to actually liking the thinner nail polishes. My impatient self has learned that good things come those who wait.

Overall, i really do like this nail polish, and the Essie brand in general!

Comment down below if you like the Essie brand, and what do you think about it!

Beauty Empties: September and October

Hello and welcome back to our blog! Today I want to share my beauty empties from the last couple months with you all:

Makeup:

Sadly we’ve only got one makeup empty for the last two months!

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC cream – This is almost finished, and it has gone bad! It is a lovely light foundation for everyday, and I love that it is spf 30. I’ve already repurchased.

Skincare:

Vapour Beauty clarity cleansing oil – I love this cleansing oil, it is so lightweight and it really works to get your makeup off. It is gentle and doesn’t sting my eyes. I have already repurchased!

Acure the Magical Wonderfluff moisturizer – This moisturizer was really light but hydrating. I did enjoy using it but I am not very loyal to a certain moisturizer and I’m ready to try something else.

Sonage Patagonia Berry Stem Cell Mask – I loved this face mask! It was incredibly nice, and it really made a difference in my skin. However, this is $48 dollars so I would not repurchase!

Acure Purifying Fruit Peel – I loved this fruit peel. It really gives you new skin after you use it. This makes my face so soft and it feels very balanced, not dry or irritated. It does seem pretty strong so I would be wary if you have sensitive skin, but it worked lovely on my skin! I will buy the full size.

No 7 Glow Activating Serum – This was a great light hydrating serum. Unfortunately, it is not the type of feel that I want, it feels gel-like and I prefer my serums to feel oily so I would not repurchase, but if you have an oilier skin type you might like this!

Bodycare:

Weleda Almond sensitive skin body wash – This was an average bodywash, but it is a little pricy though! I wouldn’t repurchase!

Aesop Rind Concentrate Body Butter – This was a good lotion but it is very heavily fragranced with orange. It was way too much for me, wouldn’t repurchase!

Haircare:

I never use up haircare so I’m happy to have moved out some of this!

Giovanni 2chic Avocado and Olive oil Ultra Moist Shampoo – I did like this shampoo, but it isn’t the most gentle one I could find. I am going to try something else instead!

Giovanni 2 chic Avocado and Olive Oil leave-in conditioning and styling elixir – This is a lovely leave in conditioner and styler, it really defines my curls and moisturizes them. I enjoy what it does for my hair and I repurchased!

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo – This shampoo was a little harsh on my curls, it did get all the buildup out of my hair but it also made my curls frizz so I would not buy the full size!

Aveda Rosemary Mint conditioner – This was a very watery conditioner and it did a lovely job, but it doesn’t work as well as my MOP conditioner so I will pass on it!

That is it for my empties! I’m sorry for being absent for a bit, Christine has been doing a great job holding down the fort for the last couple weeks. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will see you soon!

Airspun loose face powder review

Hello my lovlies! Im back with another beauty blog…duh! It would be a little weird if i was doing a video game review or something…

Today i will be review Airspun loose face powder. I’ve heard so much about this face powder that i’ve wanted to try it out for so long. The only issue i had was no matter where i looked, i couldnt find this powder anywhere. I searched high and low in every drug store with no luck. Next i searched Target and found nothing there.

Then the day came, the faitful day where i would find the much awaited Airspun loose face powder. I had to get some shots for college at my local walgreens, now here is a little fact about me…your girl HATES shots. The mere thought of getting a shot, or being around a needle terrifies me so bad. Usually i have my mom come with me, and yes im a nineteen girl and i still need my mom to come with me when i get shots. BUT THIS TIME SHE SAID SHE WOULDNT COME WITH ME…brat…Just kidding i love my mom and i understood how i needed to grow up. ANYWAY, before getting the shots, to relieve some anxiety, i decided to walk around the store. And somehow i came upon the cosmetic section…its really funny how thats the first thing i came across. Being the beauty holic i am, i looked around the beauty section, and then i found it, the loose powder that i have been trying to find for years. It was $9 and SUCH A STEAL.

Airspun Loose Face Powder:

Details:

  • Round continer
  • Holes to help filter out powder
  • Orange lip with some time of flower (?) on it
  • Little puff applicator

Pros:

  • Smells AMAZING, very soft sent, like baby powder
  • Very easy application, if you apply with a beauty blender you wont make a big mess
  • Long lasting
  • gives finished look

Cons:

none

All in all i give this product a 10/10 because i really feel this product gives your concealor and under eye area a creasless look, which im totally for. I also am a huge fan of the smell. For some weird reason it reminds me of a new born baby, which i totally 100% love. Im a huge fan of vintage things, and i guess you could consider this product vintage because it was made in 1935. I know i know the product that im using wasnt made in 1935, but the company was, which i really find interesting, because with other vintage companies like Revlon, Maybelline, and L’Oreal they are well known. Most people have heard of these brands, and its because of how well known their brands are that their name has survived so long, but the fact that this brand isnt very well known, and it is still surviving is truly amazing to me.

Thats it for todays blog!

Comment down below if you have tried Airspun, and what you think!

If you a havent, comment down below if you love that new born baby smell!

Photo Focus Mat Fin setting spray

Hello my lovlies! im back with another beauty blog…duh!

Hopefully you guys arent getting sick of the wet n wild reviews because boy do i have a lot more coming! Lately ive been really liking this brand. I like how affordable these products are, and how most of them are pretty good quality. Now i know i used to say that about E.l.f when Hailey and i first started our blogs, but in my opinion Wet n Wild is a higher quality than most of the E.l.f makeup products.

Way back in the early days of the blog i did a review on E.l.f’s liquid setting spray. After that bottle had emptied, i didnt buy any more setting sprays because i didnt find the use in them at the time. We used to live in a colder state so makeup sweating off wasnt a big worry, the biggest worry for makeup users in out state was it being rained off! Now that live in a hotter state i have now realized the importance of setting spray.

Photofocus Mat Fin Setting Spray:

like i mentioned before, and if you couldnt tell from the lable. This is a wet n wild product. i bought this before i moved because i thought that i might need it due to the hot Texas weather. Boy was i right, this setting spray really comes in handy when the weather is 106 F ( 41 C ) and you want to look cute and put together.

Discription:

This product has a matte plastic container that has a black see through lid. The bottle is fairly small and there are numbers on the lid. I can only assume that the numbers are the lid are only for decoration because i have found no actual purpose for them otherwise.

Pros:

  • Small and travel size, easy to pack around in a purse for re application
  • Dries fast
  • Partnered with the Matte primer of this same colection it helps keep your makeup on for a majoirty of the day

Cons:

  • Smells like chemicals which makes me worry about what im putting on my face.
  • Does not give a “Mat Fin” look, i hardly see any difference in the look of my makeup
  • Wetness of spray makes mascara run, would recommend putting mascara on after for a cleaner look

All in all i would give this product a rating of 7/10. I really liked how this product helped my makeup last longer, but i didnt like how it didnt give a matte finish whats so ever. At first i thought it was because i wasnt applying a lot of product, but even when i drenched myself in the spray, once it dried i still didnt get the matte look. I think that was my biggest displeasure of this product was the false advertizsng, it has the same affect as a normal setting spray, which im totally okay with!

comment down below your favorite setting spray!

L.A Colors Brand Review

Hello lovelies! Back again with a blog. Like me recent Elf blog, I feel LA colors is a hit or miss. Some products are great for your buck, while others are instant throw aways.

I’ll start off with the…

L.A Colors eyebrow gel:

Now I usually use a pencil to do my brows, but I wanted to try something new and use a gel. I was interested to find out that this product didn’t really have a gel feel to it, it was more like an eyebrow pencil but it a small little jar opposed to a stick. For coverage I give this a 10/10 because it really does fill in your brows and it really does stay which I like a lot.

L.A Colors Auto Eyeliner:

I got this retractable eyeliner because I thought it would be nice to line my under lid with on days where I go for a darker makeup look, or nights out. Continue reading “L.A Colors Brand Review”

Beauty Empties: July-August

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog! I managed to finish a lot of beauty products these last two months since I was attempting to get rid of some of my products before I moved into college dorms. I just moved in a week ago and I’m having fun at college, although I am sad to be away from Christine!

Let’s get into the empties:

Makeup:

NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake – This is my favorite lip gloss of all time and I love it! I finished it off and I have already repurchased.

Moon Valley Organics Beeswax Lip Balm – This lipbalm I found at the health food store and it was okay but it was super oily which I was not a fan of. I wouldn’t repurchase this.

Butter London Wink Matte Liquid Eyeliner in Brown Sugar – This eyeliner was really nice! I would definitely repurchase it in the black shade, I don’t usually wear brown liner.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner – I really enjoyed this eyeliner. This is something I definitely would repurchase. It is super black and really does stay on all day!

Skincare:

Terremere Tea and Aloe Hydrating Cleanser – I really enjoyed this cream cleanser. It really took off my makeup nicely and it left my face feeling fresh. It is super expensive if I can’t find it on Hautelook, so I wouldn’t repurchase.

Mychelle Pure Harmony cleanser – This cream cleanser was also really nice. This was really gentle on my skin and I did enjoy it, but I feel like I could find something better for cheaper, so I wouldn’t repurchase!

Evan Healy Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosoul – This was a toner sort of product and I did like what it did for my skin, just it was very heavily scented and it really began to bother me, so I would not buy the full size of this.

Ean Healy Pomegranate Repair Serum – This serum was really thick and moisturizing, but this one happened to give me some clogged pores, and it didn’t make my skin glow the way it does with other serums.  I wouldn’t buy the full size.

Beautycounter Nourishing Night Cream – This was so lovely and hydrating! These beauty counter products were gifted to us by an instagram friend (@betterbeauty101). I really enjoyed this night cream and I would buy a full size!

Beautycounter Nourishing Eye Cream – This was a nice eye cream, it felt good on the skin and I really enjoyed using this sample, but I’ve just bought the Derma-e one and I want to use that up before I buy a full size of this, so maybe I’d repurchase in the future!

Haircare:

I know I never use up haircare anything but I finally put my mind to it and I have four empties!

NH hotels Soft Mask – I definitely stole this from the hotel I was at in Spain but I loved this hair mask and I wish there was somehow I could buy it again because it made my hair so soft!

Aveda Invati Advanced Exfoliating Shampoo – This was a really good shampoo for getting all the buildup out of my roots. I really enjoyed it and it didn’t make my hair frizzy so I would definitely buy the full size!

Aveda Invati Advanced Thickening Conditioner – This conditioner was very volumizing but it wasn’t moisturizing enough for my hair personally so I would not repurchase it, but I would recommend it if you are looking for volume!

Paul Mitchell The Detangler Conditioner – This conditioner was a very watery consistency and it was really hydrating and lovely but I still prefer my Mop conditioner so I would not buy this one!

Bodycare:

Sparituals Passionfruit Agave Vegan Nourishing Sugar Scrub – This was a gift, I loved it and I really enjoyed it and I was going to repurchase it until I saw the price tag. $50 is not something I can afford at all as a college student!

That is it for my empties! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. It is ridiculously long! Let me know something you’ve finished down below in the comments!
