Beauty Empties: September and October

Hello and welcome back to our blog! Today I want to share my beauty empties from the last couple months with you all:

Makeup:

Sadly we’ve only got one makeup empty for the last two months!

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular CC cream – This is almost finished, and it has gone bad! It is a lovely light foundation for everyday, and I love that it is spf 30. I’ve already repurchased.

Skincare:

Vapour Beauty clarity cleansing oil – I love this cleansing oil, it is so lightweight and it really works to get your makeup off. It is gentle and doesn’t sting my eyes. I have already repurchased!

Acure the Magical Wonderfluff moisturizer – This moisturizer was really light but hydrating. I did enjoy using it but I am not very loyal to a certain moisturizer and I’m ready to try something else.

Sonage Patagonia Berry Stem Cell Mask – I loved this face mask! It was incredibly nice, and it really made a difference in my skin. However, this is $48 dollars so I would not repurchase!

Acure Purifying Fruit Peel – I loved this fruit peel. It really gives you new skin after you use it. This makes my face so soft and it feels very balanced, not dry or irritated. It does seem pretty strong so I would be wary if you have sensitive skin, but it worked lovely on my skin! I will buy the full size.

No 7 Glow Activating Serum – This was a great light hydrating serum. Unfortunately, it is not the type of feel that I want, it feels gel-like and I prefer my serums to feel oily so I would not repurchase, but if you have an oilier skin type you might like this!

Bodycare:

Weleda Almond sensitive skin body wash – This was an average bodywash, but it is a little pricy though! I wouldn’t repurchase!

Aesop Rind Concentrate Body Butter – This was a good lotion but it is very heavily fragranced with orange. It was way too much for me, wouldn’t repurchase!

Haircare:

I never use up haircare so I’m happy to have moved out some of this!

Giovanni 2chic Avocado and Olive oil Ultra Moist Shampoo – I did like this shampoo, but it isn’t the most gentle one I could find. I am going to try something else instead!

Giovanni 2 chic Avocado and Olive Oil leave-in conditioning and styling elixir – This is a lovely leave in conditioner and styler, it really defines my curls and moisturizes them. I enjoy what it does for my hair and I repurchased!

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo – This shampoo was a little harsh on my curls, it did get all the buildup out of my hair but it also made my curls frizz so I would not buy the full size!

Aveda Rosemary Mint conditioner – This was a very watery conditioner and it did a lovely job, but it doesn’t work as well as my MOP conditioner so I will pass on it!

That is it for my empties! I’m sorry for being absent for a bit, Christine has been doing a great job holding down the fort for the last couple weeks. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will see you soon!

Haircare Routine for Dry Hair

Hello my lovlies! Im back with another beauty blog. After doing my dry and oily skin blog, i realized that along with suffering with both dry and oily skin, i also suffered both dry and oily hair. I know that many people on this beautiful planet also suffer this problem, so i thought i would share a few things i did to get rid of my dry hair!!

Hair Masks:

One thing i did to help get rid of my dry hair was to start using hair mask. I would recommend making your own opposed to buying pre-made ones from the store. This way you know exactly what is going onto your hair. I mostly used an avacado mask twice a month on my hair.

Do not over wash!:

Try not to wash your hair too much, shampoo can and does often times dry out your hair when you over wash it. I take showers daily, but i only wash my hair every other two days. Also make sure that the shampoo you’re using wont dry out your hair. Some shampoos have acids and what not in them that are a death sentence for your hair.

Use olive oil as conditioner:

Once again, you never know what youre putting on your hair when using store shampoo’s and conditioners. When i had dry hair i used A VERY LITTLE amonut of olive oil as conditioner. If you use to much your hair will look greasy, and we dont want that either. Using olive oil on your hair will also help keep your tips nice and healthy.

Dry your hair naturally or wrap it dry:

Lastly using blow dryers and shaking your hair dry can badly damage and dry out your hair. I always always always air dry my hair when i get out of the shower and i find hat this helps SO much!

I know this is a short blog, but these are the steps i took to fix my dry hair.

September Beauty Favorites!

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog, today I want to share with you my favorites from September! Lets get into it:

Makeup:

Babo Lip Tint SPF 15 Conditioner –

This lip balm has a little bit of pink tint and it has been perfect for everyday. I can quickly apply it before class and look put together, plus it is really moisturizing! It lasts a while on the lips and makes them look so healthy.

Morphe 12 NB palette –

This has been my go to eyeshadow palette lately! The warm toned looks are beautiful for this end of summer-autumn phase. These shadows blend easily, and they don’t crease on me (even without a primer) for hours!

Tarte Gifted Mascara + NYX Worth The Hype Mascara –

I have really enjoyed layering these two mascaras! The combo gives me beautiful, long and volumized  lashes with definition. I love to put down the NYX one first as a lengthening base, and then go in with the Tarte for volume. I also love to put the Tarte mascara on my lower lashes, it makes them look lovely!

Skincare:

Derma-E Hydrating Night Cream –

This has been a lifesaver for me the past couple of weeks. My skin had an absolute freak out because of my move to Cali for college. It went oily and then incredibly dry. This cream is super hydrating but it is fairly lightweight and has worked well through both skin types. Highly recommend this if you need a new night cream!

Acure Seriously Glowing Facial Serum –

This serum was much too heavy for my skin back home, but now it works amazingly for me. This is the only thing that has been able to help balance out my dry skin. It is amazingly hydrating, thick and heavy. I absolutely love it because it makes my skin glow by the morning.

Sonage Remedy Relief Balancing Mask –

I love the way this makes my skin feel after, it really zaps clogged pores and it helped balance out my oily skin. Even now that my skin has turned dry it still makes my face feel nice. It is an incredibly rejuvenating mask!

That’s it for my September favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed, let me know what you’ve been loving down in the comments below, I would love to know!

Tips for Oily Skin

Hello my lovlies! Today i will be doing another beauty blog…DUH! It would be weird if i wasnt, after all our blog name is BEAUTYholics.

After writing me Acne skincare routine blog, i began to realize that when i comes to your skin, people suffer many problems. Some people get really bad acne, others get really bad dry skin, and then others get really bad oily skin. So i thought, since throughout my short life, i have suffered both oily and dry skin, i would do a blog on what i did to get rid/help my oily skin. Hopefully this will help those of you out there suffering oily skin.

  1. Get a face wash that it suited toward oily skin, and wash you face twice a day.

I started noticing that i was getting oily skin shortly after i started my first period in the 6th grade. I was terrified by how oily my skin looked, and how no matter what i did, i couldn’t seem to make it go away. That was until i started using Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser. I highly recommend this, and if you have sensitive skin like i do this is still a good cleanser so dont be afraid! I would wash my face once in the morning, make sure that you PAT your face dry, instead of rubbing it. Then i would wash my face for the second time before bed.

  2. Wash your bed sheets and pillows once a week.

Along with washing your face twice a day, i also would wash my pillows and bedding once a week. I personally believe that doing this really helped my acne and my oily skin

  3. Start an oil free diet.

I know its hard to pass up a french fry here and there, but exchanging that french fry for some veggies, and that burger for more lean meat will really improve your oily skin. When i cut back on the more processed food, i could see a noticable change in the oily-ness of my skin within a week. Cutting back on surgary drinks will also help reduce skin oil.

  4. Exfoliate Exfoliate Exfoliate!

Exfoliating your skin twice a week will reduce oily skin like you wouldnt believe. By exfoliating your skin, youre stripping yourself of dead skin cells, which helps reduce skin oils. Just be careful not to over exfoliate, that will only make the oily-ness wose.

  5. Exercise daily

By exercising daily you are increasing your blood flow which opens up your clogged pores as well as nourishes your skin.

  6. WATER WATER WATER.

Drink lots and lots of water. Water is such an amazing thing and will help you so so so so much. I cannot stress how important water is. I would reccomned drinking 5-6 glasses of water a day.

Thats it for todays blog. Comment down below how you got rid of your oily skin, or if you plan on doing this to get rid of oily skin!

Beauty Empties: July-August

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog! I managed to finish a lot of beauty products these last two months since I was attempting to get rid of some of my products before I moved into college dorms. I just moved in a week ago and I’m having fun at college, although I am sad to be away from Christine!

Let’s get into the empties:

Makeup:

NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake – This is my favorite lip gloss of all time and I love it! I finished it off and I have already repurchased.

Moon Valley Organics Beeswax Lip Balm – This lipbalm I found at the health food store and it was okay but it was super oily which I was not a fan of. I wouldn’t repurchase this.

Butter London Wink Matte Liquid Eyeliner in Brown Sugar – This eyeliner was really nice! I would definitely repurchase it in the black shade, I don’t usually wear brown liner.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner – I really enjoyed this eyeliner. This is something I definitely would repurchase. It is super black and really does stay on all day!

Skincare:

Terremere Tea and Aloe Hydrating Cleanser – I really enjoyed this cream cleanser. It really took off my makeup nicely and it left my face feeling fresh. It is super expensive if I can’t find it on Hautelook, so I wouldn’t repurchase.

Mychelle Pure Harmony cleanser – This cream cleanser was also really nice. This was really gentle on my skin and I did enjoy it, but I feel like I could find something better for cheaper, so I wouldn’t repurchase!

Evan Healy Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosoul – This was a toner sort of product and I did like what it did for my skin, just it was very heavily scented and it really began to bother me, so I would not buy the full size of this.

Ean Healy Pomegranate Repair Serum – This serum was really thick and moisturizing, but this one happened to give me some clogged pores, and it didn’t make my skin glow the way it does with other serums.  I wouldn’t buy the full size.

Beautycounter Nourishing Night Cream – This was so lovely and hydrating! These beauty counter products were gifted to us by an instagram friend (@betterbeauty101). I really enjoyed this night cream and I would buy a full size!

Beautycounter Nourishing Eye Cream – This was a nice eye cream, it felt good on the skin and I really enjoyed using this sample, but I’ve just bought the Derma-e one and I want to use that up before I buy a full size of this, so maybe I’d repurchase in the future!

Haircare:

I know I never use up haircare anything but I finally put my mind to it and I have four empties!

NH hotels Soft Mask – I definitely stole this from the hotel I was at in Spain but I loved this hair mask and I wish there was somehow I could buy it again because it made my hair so soft!

Aveda Invati Advanced Exfoliating Shampoo – This was a really good shampoo for getting all the buildup out of my roots. I really enjoyed it and it didn’t make my hair frizzy so I would definitely buy the full size!

Aveda Invati Advanced Thickening Conditioner – This conditioner was very volumizing but it wasn’t moisturizing enough for my hair personally so I would not repurchase it, but I would recommend it if you are looking for volume!

Paul Mitchell The Detangler Conditioner – This conditioner was a very watery consistency and it was really hydrating and lovely but I still prefer my Mop conditioner so I would not buy this one!

Bodycare:

Sparituals Passionfruit Agave Vegan Nourishing Sugar Scrub – This was a gift, I loved it and I really enjoyed it and I was going to repurchase it until I saw the price tag. $50 is not something I can afford at all as a college student!

That is it for my empties! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. It is ridiculously long! Let me know something you’ve finished down below in the comments!

Skincare and Haircare Haul!

Hello guys! Welcome back to our blog! Recently I’ve been shopping quite a bit, just stocking up on some categories of products before I leave for college, so here is what I picked up:

Skincare:

Derma – e Hydrating Night Cream – I’ve seen this brand all over instagram and so I decided to test out this eye cream. I swatched it in store, and it feels lovely and I can’t wait to use in on my eyes!

Derma – e Hydrating Eye Cream – This night cream has hyaluronic acid in it and I know that my skin absolutely loves that ingredient! It drinks it up and I get great results so I’m excited to try this out.

Sonage Remedy Relief Balancing Mask – This was on clearance so I picked it up! It also promised to remove impurities and shrink pores, so I was very intrigued!

Essano Rosehip Mist Toner – This is also a brand I’d seen on instagram! I love spray toners during hot weather and I also love rose, so I am sure I’m going to love this!

Haircare:

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Marula Miracle Shampoo – This shampoo seemed so gentle so I picked it up because if a shampoo is too harsh, it really makes a difference in how my curls look. Definitely excited to test it out! Continue reading “Skincare and Haircare Haul!”

Acne skin care routine

Hello my lovelies!! I’m back and here with the much awaited skincare routine. And let me just tell you, you’re in for some laughs!

So over this past year I have been getting really bad acne. I used to be those lucky girls that never had to worry about acne, so I thought that it would never happen to me..yet it did and I HATED it. I think the main reason for the acne was because my hormones were all over the place.

My acne needed action and FAST. I tried all the Pinterest all natural things, and nothing worked. So I turned to my good ol Target. And let’s just say I am pleased with my results!

Neutrogena all-in-1 acne control daily scrub:

Now you may be asking, “Christine what is the laugh you’re talking about? Skin care is a serious business!” And girl trust me I know! Let’s just say…Christine didn’t read the back of this and temporarily made her problem worse. On the back it says..in bold all caps… DO NOT PARTNER WITH OTHER ACNE SCRUBS, COULD CAUSE IRRITATION. And you would never believe what I was doing…partnering them together. I was using both this and the Clearasil together, they were technically the same thing so my logic was it would make it work even faster…well it didn’t and it irritated my skin causing red bumps to show up around my cheeks. Thankfully I realized my mistake and stopped using the Neutrogena. I am not using this because it is bad, but simply because I’m using the clearasil first and cannot use this at this time. Once I finish the clearsil I will begin to use Neutrogena!

Clearasil rapid rescue deep treatment wash:

This is what I’ve been using twice a day. Once in the morning tight when I wake up, and then at night before bed. And let me tell you, after the previous story above. This really helped. Once I started ONLY using this, the red spots from combining the two products, plus any existing acne went away within a day. I really like how this also treats scars. The scars don’t go away as quickly as those non scarred acne, but within a day you can clearly see it start to lighten up. And when I use it in the morning I feel so refreshed and awake i really do enjoy this product. I will warn, with all these products your skin does dry out a lot.

10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel:

I heard of this gel via instagram, and I was eager to see if it would aid my acne and zits. I usually use this right after the Clearasil wash, and I think it really does aid in the treatment. I also apply this twice a day. The only thing I dislike about this is that it dries out your skin even more than the acne wash. But I knew that going into this product. It really helps with the acne though.

I would like to also add that I use the Pixi Tonic Glow serum once a week as well. I forgot to take a picture of it, but I also use that and it helps a lot. Stings a little but it works!

Drugstore Beauty Haul!

Hello guys! I recently went shopping with Christine at our local drugstore/health food store and picked up quite a few things, so lets get into it:

Makeup:

NYX butter gloss in Angel Food Cake –

This was a repurchase because I actually ran out of my NYX angel food cake gloss so I needed a new one! I’m excited to crack this open and use it.

LA colors moisturizing Shea Butter lip gloss in clear –I picked this up because I wanted a clear gloss to put over my matte lipsticks. This gloss feels so nice, and it is so thick and high quality for only being $2. I’ve only worn it a couple times, but already the letters have rubbed off which is strange!

ELF moisturizing lip oil in the shade Pink Kiss –I didn’t know Elf had lip oils so I was excited to try them out. I picked up this gorgeous mauvey pink shade, it looks like its right up my alley!

Skincare/Bodycare:

Weleda Almond Sensitive Skin body wash – I needed a new body wash to take with me to college so I picked this up.  I’m excited to try it out! Continue reading “Drugstore Beauty Haul!”

Charcoal teeth whitener

Hello lovelies! Now if you’re like me, you’ve probably noticed these little teeth whitened popping up on YouTube and Instagram lately. Like my usual self I have always been curious to try new and interesting things.

The charcoal teeth whiteners have been on my list for awhile! So when I went to Marshall’s and found this for $6 I was sold instantly. Now I will note it did not come with a tooth brush like most of this do, but luckily I had some extra.

After my first use, I found that the powder is magic because somehow it gets EVERYWHERE. so I would recommend you do it over a skin or in your shower, the charcoal itself looks really cool as your brushing it, I kinda feel like a pirate with gross looking black teeth. And it does feel very grainy as your brushing your teeth as well as after.

After use I would recommend swishing some water or mouth wash because there do tend to be little black specks left on your teeth right after use.

As for results you can see a slight change after the first use, but for best results I would use for a week.

The container says you could use this as a substitute for toothpaste, Which I mean you totally could, but if you’re like me, who likes minty fresh breath, I would use this charcoal Whitener first, and then right after brush your teeth with your normal toothpaste!

Comment down below if you’ve used any of these and what you think!
