Hello my loves! As December rolls upon us i thought i would delight you guys with some tips and tricks for dry skin. As i have mentioned before in previous blogs, i have suffered from dry hair, oily hair and dry and oily skin throughout my life. So i understand how hard the struggle is.
Here are some things that i did to help my dry skin feel less bothersome.
I found that after taking showers often times made my skin feel worse afterwards. You would think that all you have to do is put on some lotion. FALSE! There are times when not even lotion would help.
Don’t take long showers:
I know how relaxing a good long 30min shower can feel after a long day, but having your skin in the water for that long really isnt good for your skin. Try and limit your showers to 5-10 min when you do take them.
Don’t use hot water:
As i said before, theres nothing better than jumping into a nice hot shower, but once again it wont be helping your dry skin AT ALL. Try using warm water instead of scorching hot water.
Go gentle and fragrance free:
Its no myth that soaps and washes with fragrance in them will dry out any skin type. I always used soaps that had no fragrance in them such as soaps with shea butter in them really do help.
Dry your skin by dabbing:
When getting out of the shower most people are very rough with their skin when using a towel. This roughness will only make your dry skin worse. Be sure that your extremly gentle when drying your skin, make sure you gentle dab your skin dry.
Apply moisturizer immediatly after shower:
This will trap moisture and help with your dry skin. Also seeing a doctor about your dry skin. They will be able to give you special creams that will work to improve your skin.
Wear gloves:
By wearing gloves, espically during the fall and winter, you reduce the risk of your skin getting all raw. I also wear gloves while doing the dishes, which helps because then my hands are not getting all wet.
Laundry:
When you go shopping for laundry detergent make sure you get gentle detergent and fragrance free ones. I find that my dry and irritated skin gets worse if i use detergents that arent gentle or have a lot of fragrance in them.
Add moisture in the air:
I highly recommend purchasing a humidifier. This aids moisture into your room and all around your house so that your skin doesnt dry out as easily.
Thats it for todays blog!
