E.L.F Tone Correcting Powder Review

Hello guys! Today I have a beauty bargain to share with you. I’ve been using this powder for a while and I wanted to do a review on it!

Overview:

  • Price: $4
  • Cruelty free and 100% vegan!
  • Translucent pressed powder

Promise: Create a balanced and radiant complexion that is beautiful and healthy. The lightweight formula evens out skin tone and absorbs excess oil, and sheer formula brightens, mattes and neutralizes the skin.

I thought that this product really did live up to the promises. I love this for setting my foundation, I use a dewy finish foundation (I have drier skin) and once I layer this over it, it becomes a satiny – matte finish and I love how it looks. It is sheer and the colors don’t show up, the powder becomes translucent on your skin. It is very finely milled and feels very smooth and silky on your skin. It will absorb excess oil, but it won’t keep you exceptionally matte all day. If you do have oily skin, be cautious about purchasing, it won’t keep you matte all day but it might be a good touch up powder.

The packaging is sleek and compact, it also has a huge mirror which I love for travel or touching up during the day. I really love this powder because I have fair skin so it doesn’t look ashy on me, if you have warmer toned skin I would recommend you try the Elf tone correcting powder in warm which will work a lot better for your skin.

I would swatch this but it is just a translucent powder and doesn’t really show up!

Pros:

  • Sets foundation well
  • leaves a matte to satin finish
  • very cheap/cruelty free/vegan
  • finely milled and very smooth
  • doesn’t get cakey
  • fills in smaller pores for a nice finish

Cons:

  • This won’t keep you super matte all day if you have oily skin
  • This shade will show up ashy on deeper skin tones, get the warmer toned version instead if you have tan skin.

Those are my thoughts on this little drugstore gem. I really like this powder and I use it every day. Let me know down in the comments if you have tried ELF and if you like any of their products!

  1. I just panned this powder! I had the cool version as well and have been looking out for the warm. I think they might have discontinued the warm, though. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. I have a warm yellow undertone and the cool did leave me looking a bit too pale and ghostly white. I really enjoyed this powder but the blue and yellow kept on getting hard pan. I had to repress the whole thing to get rid of the hard pan.

    1. That’s great! Panning products is so difficult. Is the warm version available on their website? Maybe you can find it there. Yeah this cool version really only works if you have a cooler undertone! I have gotten a little bit of hard pan, I might just repress it like you did!

      1. Just looked on the website and they only have it in cool. They must have discontinued the warm version. That sucks. It was a really good powder otherwise. It made me matte all day. It was suck a pain to keep lifting up the hard pan with duct tape. I chopped it all up finely on a plate and used rubbing alcohol 80% once I put the powder back in the pan. I mixed it to the consistency of greek yogurt. Then, I used the bottom of my nail polish to press it back flately into the pan with some paper towel on top of the product to absorb the alcohol. You keep doing it with paper towl until you get zero wet spots on your paper towel. It takes another 24 to 48 hrs to dry fully before you can use your powder again. In case, you were wondering how to repress. 🙂

  2. This is one of my favorite brands. I just purchased some new elf items tonight. Besides makeup, they are really turning out some nice skincare products this year. Thanks for a great blog post! ❤️
