Update On Becoming Cruelty Free

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! If you’ve been following for a while, you know that I’ve been trying to only use products that are not tested on animals and made that resolution in January. Now six months in I want to update you guys on what I still have left to use up. I’ve done a lot more research and discovered companies that I thought were cruelty free actually are not!

I am still passionate about the cause! I have gotten rid of 23 products that aren’t cruelty free, next, after my makeup is cruelty free I will move onto skin care and then hair care as well. I’m finding dupes for what I have left that isn’t cruelty free so that when they are finished I will still have comparable products

in total: 12 makeup products, 1 lip balm

Face makeup:

Benefit Dallas Bronzer – found a dupe from butter London

Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer – Dupe is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, this is about 1/4 gone.

Loreal Lumi – Half gone! Dupe is NYX illuminator

Benefit High Beam – 1/4 gone, dupe is also from NYX

Lipsticks:

Lancome Colordesign lipstick in The New Pink – no dupe found yet! far from empty

Revlon HD matte lipcolor in addiction – no dupe found yet! far from empty!

Maybelline Color sensational lipstick in pink pop – dupe found from Milani! and it is 1/4 done.

*after these three all of my lip products (glosses included) will be cruelty free!*

Mascaras:

Maybelline lash sensational mascara – I love this, I think the tartiest mascara has my volume covered so I will finish this, probably 1/3 gone.
Bobbi Brown Mascaras – unfortunately I discovered bobbi brown isn’t cruelty free. these I use every day so I am pretty sure they will be gone soon.

Balms:

1 EOS – it will be in a summer project pan!

multitasking products:

Bobbi Brown beauty book – unfortunately I have no idea how to use this up because it has so many products in one. I might challenge myself to only use it for a month!

I will be throwing some of these products into a summer project pan no doubt so stay tuned for that and thank you guys so much for reading!

  1. I’m trying to go cruelty free as well. I just discovered Thrive Causemetics. They’re vegan, cruelty free, and donate their products to women in need. I have only tried their eyeliner thus far, but I love it and it stays on better than anything else I’ve used in the past.

  2. If you haven’t already tried it, you should definitely try the Too faced “better than Sex” mascara . It’s the best! 😊
    And Lush Lip balms!

    1. I want to! I wish I could try that new L’Oreal mascara that is supposed to be a dupe as well but I don’t want to support them! I will have to try lush lip balms and their lip scrubs. I’m sure I’ll feel great knowing that I am using only things that are made without hurting any animals!

      1. I haven’t tried the L’Oreal one so I can’t say, but the Too Faced one is my absolute favourite !
(If you want a drugstore product and you don’t care weather it’s vegan or not I would also recommend Essence or Catrice Mascaras. They are cruelty-free and have pretty awesome products for crazy low prices ! )
As for Lush … Just try ! 😉

  3. That’s such a good thing to do! I’ve been trying to be cruelty free but it’s so difficult to find the right products that work on my skin. There are so many high end brands that are cruelty free whereas there are only a few in the drugstore. Can’t wait to read your future updates! ❤️

    1. It really is different! It’s such a long transition but I’m really enjoying it! Yeah that’s really true. Brands like elf and NYX have been saviors because their so cheap but most drugstore makeup isn’t cruelty free. Thank you! I’ll be updating more soon!
