Hello guys! So many of you find my little blogging tips mini series helpful that I decided to make another one. I always get such sweet comments on post like this so thank you all for that! Todays post will be do’s and dont’s of blogging (what not to do!)
Do edit your posts and don’t make typos
First and foremost editing! Editing will prevent the unprofessional typos that inevitably will occur. I sometimes have typos actually, trying to work on this!
Do Promote your post but don’t be annoying about it!
Promoting your new post on social media can be really valuable but don’t spam your followers feeds with it and go overly crazy to get views. Also in the comments of someone else’s post don’t shove your new post down their throat in efforts to get them to check it out, it is unprofessional.
Do take your own pictures (even if they aren’t amazing!) but Don’t use stock photos!
Stock photo from beautyjoint.com
Try not to use stock photos unless you absolutely need to! it gives the reader the impression that you are lazy and don’t want to take your own pictures. But try your best to take your own pictures, it’ll make your blog much more personal.
Do post as consistently and often as you can and don’t leave your blog idle for months on end without warning
If you are not inspired to write/are sick/need a break/can’t post then let your readers know! They are your friends! They will worry about you if you are gone for six months, and some will really miss your posts. So if you are going to take a break be sure to keep your followers in the loop.
Do share a real and honest version of yourself on your blog and don’t set up a fake/perfect persona for your blog!
By sharing a real and honest part of your personality with your readers they will trust you and feel closer to you than if you act fake or try to put only the good things online. As humans we all value honestly (at least a huge majority of us) so if something doesn’t work right, share it! if something is not going well and you feel comfortable sharing it then share it. bloggers are people too, and you want your readers to know the real you!
That’s all I have for you guys today! I hope I helped at least one or two of you guys who have recently started blogging. I don’t know everything, if you think I have forgotten anything or have your own tips then please leave them in the comments below as a resource for everyone!

Thanks for the tips. I am new to blogging so need all the info I can get 🙂 I do use my own pictures.. a personal preference and yes it does make it much more personal. Editing is a must, I agree and I love seeing categorized blogs. Makes it so easy to navigate and gives the site a clean look.

You are so welcome!! I understand that completely, it’s a complicated world when you start but you’ll figure the whole thing out in no time. I’m so glad you take your own pics, you’re already on the right track!

I have to say being totally honest at all times can be brutal… I have found this recently anyhow.

It can! Especially if you’re worried about pissing off a brand by leaving a negative review, or anything really.

I’m so glad you found them helpful! I agree, I love when bloggers put in the effort to create their own beautiful photos, you could be lying and not even own a product but use a stock photo for a review.

Good tips! For editing, I always suggest to write the post, edit it, sleep on it, and then edit it again. Because when it’s your own words, sometimes you can read through the mistake very easily when it’s freshly written! But if you wait a day, the mistake will pop out easier!

Thank you! That’s a super great tip! Editing later is always better for catching typos
